Post Photography talk..
Ok guys, i've created a new thread for us to either share images or even talk about camera's.. i know now that Speedphreak, myself and Manhunt are into this hobby as well. If there's other's that would like to share just feel free..

So for my very first query, why is it that so many people prefer nikon's more than Canon's? i'm in the midst of choosing my gear now and frankly speaking, most of my picture's taken are from an Olympus E500 which is totally not in favour by anyone or even in the market. Well of course unless its an E3? then yes la, but otherwise, my only encounter with a Canon is from my S5iS semi. I've use some of my friend's EOS 350d and 10d before la and the only Nikon that i've use or tried was a D40x which is considered an entry level SLR now. MY sis's boyfriend has just gotten himself a EOS1000d which price for value is excellent now since its only RM1999 with kit lens plus a live view feature.

I've been doing a lot of research lately and also found that most pro's also stick with their Nikon's... the most mentioned EOS by far is still the 1D mark III which everyone knows it cost 16,999 body alone. But apart from that, yes i know the D80s D90s or even D300's D200's are mainly the choice. D60 and below are discontinued models so unless you go searching yes you can find. I know Nikon's overall has better noise control as compared with Canon's. But in terms of usability wise, i'm very comfortable with a canon and i find that i can just jump straight onto it without having to crack my head. So start giving me opinions guys.. Would love to hear your takes on this 2 leaders..

dont buy d40 or d60... why?

1. it doesnt come with a built-in motor in the slr body
2. therefore only af-s lens can go with d40/d60...
3. you will regret it since photo skill can be picked up in say, a short time

canon, no need to go for 1D Mark3, the 5D Mark2 is good enough and latest in the market, why? the latter being a Full Frame SLR Camera (same shot region with a 35mm SLR camera)

so what is full frame? D-SLR is not shot on 35mm view, it is actually a magnified 35mm with a factor of 1.6... for Nikon DX lense is for D-SLR, and FX lense is for FF D-SLR...this is too far...

for beginners, you need to know what is bokeh.. google it up..and you know what i mean..

ths pix was taken with a D80, normally outdoor shot you would go with ISO100 since there is enough light

notice the slight shake? thats y u need a tripod, remote shutter control or use a timer or a VR lens..

this was taken with WIDE OPEN LENS at 18mm, currently i plan to look for one with 16mm.. 10mm also got

this was taken with my d50..notice the sharpness

this was taken with a 50mm 1.8f, bokeh is the so called blur image of the background or foreground..smaller aperture, nicer bokeh

this was taken with 18-135mm lens, at 135mm with f/5.6

I don't think the above point still manage to convince why a nikon and not a canon.. Even though yes the above explanation explains very well regarding the technicality of lenses and technique. Well what i gather from my friends why majority opts for a nikon is because, no 1, beginning with the D90s series, the color depth of it now is much better as compared with canon's. They just tend to have better depth however this all can be corrected with your online software but thats another point all together. The other reason is also nikon lenses and external flashes are slightly cheaper as compared with Canon which really does play a factor here when investing in lenses next time. Bro i don't think i intend to get a 1d Mrk 3 as this is already around 16000k, but if i ever do, it will be a used unit which either a 1D mark 2 or nikon' F2x.. very good pricing for good grade used ones.. but that is IF i have the budget, otherwise, i think somewhere along the likes of Nikon D80 will do just fine or even EOS 20d or 30d.. depends.

no la, my point above is not to convince anyone bout nikon... its up to preferrence...

from personal experience, i think canon's stuff for beginner/mid-range level is far more cheaper compared to nikon.

why i choose nikon, it gave me the feel.. have tried canon, not to my preference..

and normally only high -end user i.e. professional photoG will use software to edit...

user like me prefers out-of-the box output with minor edit i.e. cropping, filters and stime bNw effect

Really? from beginner to midrange canon still more cheaper? hmm.. i think all these guys they keep saying its the colour depth and etc etc.. no doubt in the world ranking now nikon has secured first place.. and the fact is bro, (which i just found out) is excellent noise control even up to 6400 iso. Of course one would think, do you actually need that high of a iso but its good to know that you have that control over lighting. And thats has always been Nikon's best selling point.

i was also contemplating buying a nikon d60 or canon 400d...seems like sony suits my budget well...

No la leica is not cheap man.. the last i saw there's one selling for 18k..

Speed,

Now they package canon eos around 2400 for EOS 400d - with kit lens and EOS 450d around 2700.. Well i don't think sony is my choice at the moment. Yup the alpha series is making an impact coming into SLR world. Anyways i think my budget will around 4k..
